Who I am

My name is Marek Broderick, and I am running for re-election to Burlington’s City Council in Ward 8 on March 3rd. It has been an honor to serve our city during my first two-year term, and I'm ready to continue our fight to put people and planet over profit.

I’m a renter and a student. And I’m a Burlingtonian who believes our city should work for all of us, not just the powerful few. It is no secret that Burlington is unaffordable for the majority of its residents. As a proud democratic socialist, I know that for our city to thrive, it needs to work for everyone. Over the last two years, I have fought to enforce tenant protection laws on and off our college campuses, stop the privatization of our public services, and rezone Burlington to build abundant housing.

I’ve also worked tirelessly to meet you where you are and support my community. This means everything from helping tenants secure adequate heating in their apartments to assisting residents in navigating our city’s bureaucracy.

Ward 8 deserves representation pushing back against our broken status quo. I love Burlington, but the work isn't done. If I am re-elected this March, I will continue to fight for you on city council.
